Memory Matters celebrates our 15th Anniversary and an award for excellence!

Our organization was founded in 1997 and this year we celebrate our 15th Anniversary!  We certainly have come a long way.  Let's hit the rewind button to give you a couple of highlights.

  • In 2004 we were recognized by the State of South Carolina as an Angel Charity for both exceptional service and fiscal responsibility.
  • In 2008 we successfully completed a capital campaign to purchase and renovate a permanent home for our organization ---despite the economic meltdown.
  • In 2009 we were honored as the Organization of the Year by the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce.
  • And this year we received the Erin Hardwick Award for Excellence in Non Profit Management from the South Carolina Association of Non Profit Organizations.

This award is significant because it recognizes exceptional leadership, governance, financial management and transparency, human resources management, information technology, strategic planning, and ethical fundraising and good stewardship.

We are very proud of this award because it underscores the importance of a strong and committed Board of Directors as well as a commitment to excellence by both staff and volunteers.  This honor was a team effort.  Go team!
